  8. I.    INTRODUCTION

  10. Welcome to The Invoice Store.  The Invoice Store is an Invoicing, POS and 
  11. Customer Tracking software product for the small business.  The following
  12. features are part of the software:

  40. II.   INSTALLATION
  41.  
  42. The Invoice Store requires any IBM PC compatible computer with a hard 
  43. disk drive.  Prior to installation, verify that the CONFIG.SYS file meets
  44. the following requirements:
  45.  
  46.         FILES=99
  47.         BUFFERS=20
  48.  
  49. It is also highly recommended to have EMS or XMS memory installed.  Even
  50. though the software will operate without this memory, it will operate
  51. much slower than if EMS or XMS memory is installed.
  52.  
  53. Refer to your operating system manual if any of the above is unfamiliar
  54. to the user.

  56. To run The Invoice Store, enter INV at the DOS prompt.
  57.

  59. The following environment variable commands are supported:
  60.  
  61.    SET INV=NETWORK        Forces the program to operate under the network
  62.                           mode.  Please note:  The program automatically
  63.                           senses the existence of a network during normal
  64.                           operation.  This feature is only needed if the
  65.                           program cannot detect the network.
  66.  
  67.    SET INV=COLOR          Forces the program to operate in color mode.
  68.  
  69.    SET INV=MONO           Forces the program to operate in monochrome mode.

  71.    SET INV=E:0            Forces EMS mode to be disabled.

  76. The environment variable commands may be combined.  For example,

  82. If your computer has EMS/XMS memory, it will attempt to operate in protected
  83. mode, otherwise it will operate in real mode.  If you wish to force the
  84. software to operate in real mode, set the following environment variable:

  96. Online Help is available from inside the program.  It may be activated by
  97. pressing ALT-H from anywhere in the program.  The registered version
  98. includes a printed manual that explains every feature in detail.

  104. IV.   HARDWARE SUPPORTED

  106. The following hardware is supported:

  108.    * Modem                Any modem connected to a COM port.
  109.    * Cash Drawer          Cash Drawers connected to the serial or parallel port      
  110.    * Printers              Laser, Dot Matrix, or Receipt Printers.  Must be
  111.                   connected to the parallel port.

  118. V.    OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  120. A brief word document (MANUAL.DOC) has been included to show the basic
  121. operations of The Invoice Store software.

  123. A printed instruction book is included with the registered version of The
  124. Invoice Store software to explain every feature in detail.

  130. VI.   REGISTERATION
  131.  
  132. The Invoice Store is not a free program.  You are free to evaluate the 
  133. program.  The unregistered version has some invoicing limitations.
  134. If you decide that you wish to use The Invoice Store in your
  135. place of business, please order a copy of the software.  Once ordered, a
  136. registered version of The Invoice Store will be sent to you.  You would also
  137. be entitled to a unlimited free support at no extra cost.

  161. VII.  EXTERNAL MODULES
  162.  
  163. The Credit Card Store is an external module that is available to interface
  164. with The Invoice Store software.  This module will connect a VeriFone Credit
  165. Card terminal to The Invoice Store software.  When a transaction is made on
  166. the terminal, all credit card information is automatically transmitted to
  167. The Invoice Store software.  The price for this module is $39.95.
